There's an article in the Guardian about the use of rape as a political weapon in the Congo. Some of the stories are so horrific they are almost unreadable. Death, murder and mutilation are commonplace. This is truly a nightmare world. It's almost impossible to comprehend how human beings can behave this way.
Somebody tell me what we can do about this. Please.
I think we have to ask: thus far, in the history of human affairs, how successful has anyone been, on an international level, in their attempts to prevent the excesses you're speaking of?
ReplyDeleteI think the answer is - we haven't. That's what is so awful about this. I just don't see a solution, or certainly not a short-term one. I wish the power-that-be would give it a bit more priority though. Start looking for solutions at least.
